PRO-COACHING

WHY HAVING A COACH IS IMPORTANT IN KITEBOARDING?
First of all, I must distinguish between the two roles: a trainer mostly works on the technical, tactical and physical aspects of kiteboarding, and a coach joins and supports his athletes in their competitions. A coach is likewise concerned with the technical aspects of kiteboarding, but additionally works to turn his students’ weaknesses into strengths.
"The coach must understand his athlete and help him to achieve his goals as quickly as possible. As a coach, I need to visualize his goals and find the right keys to unlock the doors to his success."

CAN ATHLETES ACHIEVE SUCCESS WITHOUT A COACH?
An athlete is rarely ever seen entering a competition without someone supporting them. Every competing individual has a mentor, even if it is not a real coach. Someone training themselves alone usually means that the competition is not very strong. When participating in high level, international events with over 300 participants, it’s practically impossible to win by yourself. Reaching a high performance level involves many different aspects, and only a qualified coach can truly create a suitable training program to reach that level.

MY RESULT AS A COACH
GKA Freestyle Youth 3-time
World Champion
Fabio and the whole AW team supported me from the very beginning, even before I started competing in the World Championships. Fabio's coaching pulls you out of your comfort zone, building tricks move by move, working on technique, strengthening muscle memory not only on the water, but also in the gym. All this constant training requires a lot of discipline from me. My success in the championships is our common merit.
GKA 7-time
World Champion
You have been my coach since 2015. I know I haven’t always made it easy, but I appreciate all the encouragement you gave me along the way. You pushed me to my limits and I went out of my comfort zone during our coaching. We went through a lot together, but you were always there, supported me at competitions, helped me sign contracts with my first sponsors. In the end, everything has helped me to grow stronger and learned to aim higher. Thank you coach; keep doing what you do.”
World Freestyle Junior Champion 2016, 2017, 2019
To be honest, a coach is mandatory in every sport because he is the only person that is going to take training and bettering you seriously. Because I started my career with alpine skiing, I know that without a coach, it is very hard or even impossible to get to the top. Sometimes during competition I don’t feel like I can land a trick, and in those moments Fabio helps me get to the best I can be.

WHAT IS COACHING?
Firstly, it is setting goals, both long-term and short-term
We analyse all the activities of the athlete both in and out of water in order to adapt the best training program, considering both ability and personal preferences.
Improvement to achieve step-by-step goals
Don’t wait for the coach to begin monitoring your progress. It is important that you also know how to learn individually, however a coach can help point you in the right direction for optimal progress. To fulfil your dream of professional kiteboarding, you must have a coach guide you in and out of water. Additionally, build your social media profiles to become an interesting candidate for relevant sponsors. Our team knows how to make your learning fast and safe, all while not losing the pleasure of the sport.
I’m proud of my coaching experience as well as my team, and cannot wait to guide and help the next generation with a sport I’m so passionate about.
